I have been, without fail, 'defriending' anyone I see on MySpace or Facebook supporting Proposition 8. It may seem petty, but I'm just not going to tolerate seeing that bullshit on MY corner of the internets.

NO ON 8.

I love all the "YES ON PROP 8" stickers and signs I'm seeing on cars and on lawns. "RESTORE MARRIAGE" because it's so sacrosanct hetero-style, am I right?

Good for you!

I try my best to tolerate other people's political beliefs (no easy task!). But that's the kind of thing that I absolutely CANNOT abide.

It's kind of personal.

Well good on you. It is not petty at all. You have to stand up for the important stuff, even if it means de-friending people. People who oppose same-sex marriage are either hate-filled, small-minded bigots, or are just people who will do whatever some guy in a church tells them to do. And you know what, religion is all good and well, but keep it away from public policy. Your church can do whatever it wants to do, but why on earth do you want to force it on everyone else? Do any of these people *seriously* believe same-sex marriage will somehow destroy the fabric of society? I'm sure some of them really are *that* stupid (or sheltered and brainwashed and wilfully ignorant), but for most it's just an excuse behind which they can hide their homophobia.

Seriously, same-sex marriage is one reason I'm still proud to be Canadian, despite all the problems we've got.

The joys of living in Canada. At least we've got another while before Harper decides to re-defend the Canadian concept of marriage. But then, he'll have to go up against BC, Ontario, and Montreal. Nnnnnot gonna happen, not with all the 'Bertans in the world.

Sniff... True North strong... and Fabulous.
