House of Leeaaaaaves!

I kind of hate myself for linking to this webcomic, but seriously. House of LEAVES. I've been meaning to give it a reread.

I totally don't get it. What's House of Leaves?

And, XKCD is so full of win, how could you hate yourself for sharing?

The comic is, more often than not, WAY too emo and self pitying/deprecating for me to enjoy. The one-off jokes are fun, but I find it's one of those internet phenomenons that people are soooo proud of themselves for liking, heh. Not everyone, of course, but it's enough to make me feel kind of exasperated.

The worst part is that you more or less can't escape it-- it is constantly regurgitated throughout all kinds of blogs and forums. As a webcomic, it's sub-par at best and gets by through pandering. This one was kind of clever, yeah, but how often is it weird wish fulfillment?

... I read XKCD quite a lot and I have no idea what y'all talkin 'bouts!.. Never seen anyone be "proud" for liking a webcomic or nothin', and since it's about stick-figures, it don't strike me as "self-deprecating"... Not sure what you be meanin' by that! And most of XKCD seem pretty happy and cheerful, so truly I challenge the claim that it is emo, as well. To me it just seems like a fun, cute, frequently quite clever comic. It does refer to pop-culture stuff fairly often, but... you know, so do the Simpsons, and a whole lot of other examples of the comedic arts, and XKCD does it quite well... >_>

And sometimes it makes quite good and well-put comments about society and culture and what-not. -_-

Anywho, diff'rent strokes, I guess. I mean, I was never a huge fan of Dinosaur Comics, but I know those are quite awesome in their own way. :P
